Meta Silently Added Face-Recognition for Its Smart Glasses to Phones (wired.com) AI

WIRED reports that Meta quietly embedded an unreleased face-recognition feature (“NameTag,” later rebranded as “Connections”) into the Meta AI app downloaded by tens of millions of people, so that Meta smart glasses can identify faces by comparing captured images to biometric templates stored on users’ phones.
