California's AB 412 Still Demands Developers Do the Impossible (eff.org) AI

The Electronic Frontier Foundation argues that California lawmakers’ proposed AB 412 would be practically impossible to comply with because there is no complete, machine-readable system for developers to identify all copyrighted works used in AI training. EFF says the bill would instead advantage large AI companies with compliance resources, discourage smaller developers and researchers, and should not be advanced while courts continue to resolve questions like fair use at the federal level.
